From Ireland to England: 5 castles so stunning you’ll think you’re in a movie

Castles are dream-like locations which all of us have been fascinated with, especially little girls watching princess movies. What if I told you that there are many castles around the world that are breathtaking and you can actually visit them. These castles have beautiful surroundings, centuries of history, and unique architecture that captivates all. Here, we have listed some of the most beautiful castles from across the world that you can bookmark.

2/6

Lumley Castle (England)

It is situated in Chester-le-Street of County Durham in England. It was constructed in 1389 by Sir Ralph Lumley and has now been transformed into a hotel. This is a quadrangular castle, i.e, it is a four-sided castle with a central courtyard, typical battlements, and medieval stonework. Management of the castle was transferred to No Ordinary Hotels in 1976, who had the castle converted into the 73-bedroom hotel it now is, and an escape room was also built within the castle's original beer cellar, providing an interactive experience for their guests.

3/6

Bovey Castle (England)

It is situated in Dartmoor National Park in Devon, England. This castle was constructed in 1907 in Neo-Jacobean architecture as a residential palace and became the Manor House Hotel in 1930; subsequently, it was renamed to Bovey Castle, another luxury hotel. This castle also features a golf course and gardens. The principal building is constructed in the Jacobean style in 1907, and the interior is of top-notch quality with panelled rooms and ornately carved details, and the garden provides stunning vistas of the lake and the River Bovey.

4/6

Inverlochy Castle Hotel (Scotland)

It is situated close to Fort William in the Highlands of Scotland and was constructed in 1863 as a Scottish baronial private house, and subsequently, the castle was converted into a luxury hotel in 1969. The castle is encompassed by nature such as falls at Glen Nevis, the Glenfinnan monument, and the hills of Glencoe. During Queen Victoria's visit to this castle in 1873, she stated that she had never seen a more romantic and lovelier place. There are also activities such as clay pigeon shooting, fishing, tennis, and hiking.

5/6

Markree Castle (Ireland)

This castle is situated in County Sligo of Ireland and has been occupied by the Cooper family since the 17th century. This castle was also restored in the 19th century with Gothic Revival details and serves as a high-end wedding and event venue today. This castle provides a view of River Unshin and is surrounded by landscaped gardens. One can enjoy fine dining here, which is of local produce, and also avail themselves of outdoor activities such as horse riding, shooting, and sightseeing in the surrounding Sligo countryside.

6/6

Ashford Castle (Ireland)

This is an historic medieval and Victorian castle situated close to Cong on the border of County Mayo and County Galway in Ireland. This castle has been converted into a five-star hotel and also rates as one of the world's best castle hotels. John Ford's movie The Quiet Man (1951) was filmed in the nearby village of Cong, and the castle was used as accommodation for crew and cast, adding to its cultural fame. The castle was turned into a hotel by Noel Huggard in 1939. This castle is a mixture of Victorian and Neo-Gothic styles of architecture. The property occupies large grounds along Lough Corrib, Ireland's second-largest lake, encompassing woodland, gardens, and water frontage. Guests have a mix of historic atmosphere, natural attractiveness, luxury, and cultural heritage.
