Ever heard of workplace discrimination? You surely must have. Workplaces are said to be one of the most discriminatory places where people suffer from sexism or racism. But in the UK, a man was reportedly pressurised to quit his job for being ‘bald’. Yes, you read that right. And, the man decided to sue his workplace for discrimination and went home with a compensation of 70 lakhs or 71,000 pounds!
The UK man, Mark Jones, a sales director at Tango Network was repeatedly encouraged to leave his job because his boss didn’t want a team full of ‘balding, 50-year-old men.’ And quite, ironically, the boss, Philip Hesketh is bald and middle-aged too!
Philip wanted a team full of young, energetic people so that he could change the dynamics of his team.

Jones claimed that the company treated him in an unfair way and tried to make him leave the organisation. He even said that the company put him up to a ‘sham’ performance improvement plan. As a result, Jones suffered from a panic attack before handing over his resignation papers.
Jones wrote in his resignation papers, “I am saddened at the blatant manipulation and lies set out in the grievance report, and believe this is only designed as a tick box exercise to make me look bad and to further a performance management process that should never have been carried out in the first place.”
He then went on to file a case against his former employer, Philip and was given a compensation of 70 lakhs after winning the case. The court ruled that Tango Network had dismissed him without any basis.
