A unique Hanuman temple

A Hanuman temple being constructed in Dhamda, near Durg, Chattisgarh is unlike any other temple in India. Instead of the usual bricks, marble, and cement, this temple is being built with thousands of old 'mitti' kalash and diyas. These pots and lamps, that are usually discarded after a festival ends, have now found their permanent, and perfect spot in a Hanuman temple.

The story behind the unique temple

It is said that the priest of the temple, and people who lived nearby were constantly disappointed by how the diyas and kalash that were once used for worship, were now scattered here and there and used to constantly touch people’s feet or lie like trash near the water bodies.
And as this was a huge disrespect for that Diya and the kalash, they decided to collect these kalash and diyas and use them to construct a new temple.
The process began by simply collecting hundreds of kalash and diyas from the villagers, and placing them together.

A one-of-a-kind temple in India

As the construction began, and the Hanuman Mandir started to take shape, anyone who looks at it, be it in real-life or through social media is left simply in awe of the shape and the way it is being constructed. The walls of the temple, adorned with layers of kalash and diyas, are a sight to behold.
And as th Kalash and Diyas are taken after the Navratri celebration, each of them have a positive energy inside them. The Kalash come with the prayers and hopes of the devotees who offered it during Navratri, and the diyas, which once lit up homes and temples during the festival, now form a part of the temple walls.

The progress

It is widely said that the construction of the temple has been going on for about 15 years now and the temple is easily over 50 feet tall.

And now, with the help of social media, as the word about this unique temple is spreading, more and more people are coming forward to donate in the form of money, Kalash, and also diyas. While it was started by the temple priest as a small initiative, it has now become a large-scale community project.

The devotion for Bajrang Bali

Lord Hanuman, also called Bajrang Bali, is looked up to and respected by people all around the world. He is the ideal devotee, the perfect student, the all-powerful, and one of the kindest Gods. He is the symbol of strength and humility together, and also gives his true devotees the same qualities to excel in life.
The construction of this unique temple in Dhamda, dedicated to him, will for sure be filled with positive energies not just from the Diyas and Kalash that are charged with the energy of Devi during Navratri, but also with the power and love of Lord Hanuman.
