What is Moksha?

Moksha or mukti, for Hindus, refers to the freedom from the cycle of birth and death. Once a person receives moksha, he or she never has to enter the samsara and is not reincarnated into this world. To Hindus all over the world, Moksha is the freedom of their soul and their unity with the divine. And so, attaining Moksha is considered the ultimate purpose of human life. Moksha is believed to give people eternal peace, bliss, and freedom from suffering.


And a visit to these 4 temples, located in 4 different directions in India, is believed to grant devotees Moksha.

​Badrinath dham in the North

Situated between the Himalayas in Uttarakhand is the Badrinath dham. Badrinath is considered to be one of the holiest temples in Uttarakhand and all over India. And it is believed that people who wish to attain Moksha in this life, must visit Badrinath atleast once in life.
To reach Badrinath, devotees come from all over the world, take up a trek from Joshimath, and then reach the temple to seek blessings and cleanse their souls. The peace and quiet of Badrinath temple is truly a beauty to look at and the spiritual energies of the place are unmatched.

​Krishna’s Dwarka in the West

Located in Gujarat is Dwarka, also called ‘Krishna’s kingdom. The famous Dwarka temple is known as Dwarkadhish mandir and is dedicated to Lord Krishna. Dwarka is believed to be one of the Char Dhams and it is said that people who visit Dwarka at least once in life, along with the other dhams attain Moksha and are united with the divine. pilgrimage sites, Dwarka holds immense significance for devotees seeking Moksha.
The idol of Shri Krishna inside the temple is said to have magnetic energies, and both devotees and other things are drawn to him.

​Lord Jagannath in the East

In the peaceful East state of Orissa is the Jagannath temple. A temple so rich in culture, history, and mysteries, that even if one does not wish to attain Moksha, must visit it atleast once. Dedicated to Lord Jagannath, Balram and Subhadra, the temple is famous for its annual Rath Yatra festival, and attracts millions of devotees. The temple's architectural style and the spiritual energy around it create a perfect atmosphere for meditation and other spiritual activities. Visiting the Jagannath temple at least once in a lifetime is like a promise of Moksha and freedom from samsara.

​Rameshwaram in the South

One of the most beautiful temples in India, is the Rameshwaram temple in Tamil Nadu. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Rameshwaram is also one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India and in the most Southern part of the country. For a long time now, devotees and pilgrims have been visiting Rameshwaram to seek absolution from past sins and attain Moksha. Situated close to the Indian ocean, Rameshwaam temple has a sense of peace and calm to it, that makes people want to surrender to the divine, leaving everything material behind them.
And so, a journey to Rameshwaram is believed to help people attain Moksha.
