What is a Lunar eclipse?

One of the most unique and amazing celestial events is the Lunar eclipse. A Lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth moves directly between the Sun and the Moon, and this casts a shadow over the moon. It sometimes makes the moon appear red, or black, or be totally invisible. Even Lunar eclipses are of three types - The total lunar eclipse where the moon is completely covered by the Earth’s shadow, turning a reddish hue, and it is thus called ‘Blood moon, then we have the partial Lunar eclipse, where just a portion of the moon is covered with the shadow, and there is the Penumbral eclipse where the moon passes through the outer shadow of the Earth, causing a slight dimming.

The beliefs around Chandra Grahan

In India, Lunar eclipses are popular as Chandra Grahan, and they are held in both positive and negative light. In Hinduism, Grahans are a time of both danger and intense power. Some people believe that the Chandra Grahan brings with it times of great turbulence and shifts in inner power, and others say it is just an ordinary day when the Earth passes the moon.
In Western thought, the eclipse is a reason that brings children and adults together as they happily watch it, especially the solar eclipse.

Chandra Grahan in March

In 2025, a Lunar Eclipse and the festival of Holi falls on the same day, March 14, Friday. And this makes people both happy and sad, depending on their beliefs about an eclipse. And many people thus had a doubt if Holi should be played on the same day, or if any changes should be made to Holika Dahan timings, but these thoughts were quashed when people got to know that the Chandra Grahan will not be visible in India.

4/7

The effects it has on people

As the beliefs around the Eclipse are varied and different, its effects on people are also different. Some people believe that during eclipses their feelings are heightened and mood swings are much more common. Some also think that eclipses bring situations to a close, be it a relationship, habit, or old pattern that no longer serve a purpose.
In India, people try their best to stay away from the Grahan timings, perform no auspicious activity during the time, and expecting mothers and little children are advised to stay indoors during the Eclipse.

5/7

Is manifesting in this period right?

Eclipses are considered to be extremely powerful and whatever you ask for or wish for, the energies are heightened for them all. And as manifestation makes people focus their thoughts, intentions, and energy, in eclipses there is certain chaotic energy that is believed to sway in the air.
Some people advise against manifesting during eclipses because they can bring sudden changes in life, and they believe that it is not easy to tame the raw energy flowing all around. It is also said that eclipses and Grahans are about letting go of the old ties, rather than asking for new things, and thus, it is best to not manifest in the period.

6/7

Who can manifest during an Eclipse?

The wild, chaotic, and untamed energy of an eclipse also waits for people to channel it and make it their own. But as this is not possible for everyone, it is best that only some people manifest their wishes during this time.
It is believed that manifestation during the Grahan is only right for people who have experience in manifesting and those who are deeply in tune with their energy. To make the energies work in your favour, it is important to know how to harness and channel that intensity.

7/7

Expectations in manifestations

According to many astrologers and experts, beginners manifesting during a Grahan can bring more harm than good onto themselves. So it is best to be cautious about what you ask for.
But if you wish to manifest during this time, rather than focusing on attracting something new, put your intentions on the line so that it helps you shrug off a dead end and improve your life.
But as mentioned before, the energy of an eclipse is unpredictable, so it is important to be mindful about what you ask the Universe for.
