One of the highest Lord Hanuman temples is the Jakhu mandir in Shimla, Himachal, where devotees take a cable car to reach the top. When a deadly battle took place between AhiRavan, the king of the Underworld and Ravan’s brother, and Lord Hanuman, he was told that the only way to defeat AhiRavan would be by extinguishing the 5 flames in the battle site, all at once. And this is when Lord Hanuman came in his Panchmukhi (5-faced form) avatar to blow off the flames and save Lord Ram and Lakshman. This temple in Rameshwaram is believed to be the place where Lord Hanuman’s Panchmukhi form came forward.

Bedi Hanuman temple, Odisha

A temple where Lord Hanuman is in ‘bediya’ or iron chains and clutches, is the Bedi Hanuman temple in Odisha. This temple is close to the Jagannath temple, and has a very unique story to it. According to legend, the temple was built to keep the waves from flooding Puri, and Lord Hanuman was assigned this task. But as he used to fly away to meet Lord Ram, or visit Ayodhya, Lord Jagannath had to tie him up in chains so that he can protect the people and fulfil his duty.

The Salasar Hanuman mandir, in Salasar, is another powerful temple of Lord Hanuman in Rajasthan. It is also a unique temple dedicated to him because the image of Lord Hanuman here includes a moustache and a beard, unlike other idols or images of him.
In Salasar Balaji, Lord Hanuman has a very calm, serene expression on his face, and it almost looks like he is smiling while looking at his devotees.
