Spirituality: Meaningful time or just a trend?

Over the past few years, there has been an increase in the number of religious and spiritual people. From influencers on social media, to ‘Gurus’ in spiritual hotspots, everybody seems to be ‘tapping’ into their inner self and being, and coming out as a more positive and changed person. But the grass is not just dark!
In today’s world, with stress and anxiety everywhere, spirituality is giving people a chance to find balance. Be it prayers, or meditation, or breathwork, people get the chance to recharge themselves. And here we mention 6 ways spirituality improves and benefits health and well-being.

2/7

Set aside time for meditation

One of the best ways in which the trend and the practice of spirituality is helping people is that it is making them take time out for meditation. And something as simple as deep breathing and chanting or humming, can relax the body, clear the mind, reduce the stress, and also improve behaviour and sleep patterns.

When people get into spirituality, even if it is just for a trend, they are still calming themselves down for 5 minutes everyday, which has long-term benefits.

3/7

Calms the nerves

Spirituality, and the practices that come with it, are particularly helpful when life gets overwhelming. When you pray, chant, do some deep breathing, or just sit in silence, your heart rate slows down, your mind clears up, and you have time for just you and your function. This calmness helps reduce tension and calms the body and mind.
So the next time you sit with a lit up candle or in a dark room, you are not just meditating, but also calming your nervous system.

4/7

Finding purpose

Spirituality makes people think about life, their values, their goals, and what truly matters to them. Even to a pseudo-spiritual person, the meditation provides a sense of calm that is incomparable, and even if they are talking about being spiritual on a video, they tap into inner questions that their mind wants answers too.
And so in the long run, this can help build a strong sense of purpose, which gives people the motivation to take care of themselves and stay positive.

5/7

Encourages deep thinking

Spiritual people often spend time asking and answering big questions: Who am I? Why am I here? What is the meaning of life? What is my purpose in this mortal life? And much more. And these questions, while they might not have a clear answer in the early years, overtime, as they think deeply and dive into their consciousness, it makes them more self-aware.

6/7

Helps cope with stress

Spiritual and religious beliefs are a source of strength for people around the world. Be it the belief that Moksha is attainable even by the most ordinary of men, or the thought that a few minutes of deep breathing will help calm the stress and anxiety, humans flourish in these. And overtime, knowing that there is something bigger than oneself helps reduce feelings of fear, sadness, or loneliness during the toughest phases of life.

7/7

Makes people kind and empathetic

The world today is suffering from a disease, and it is Apathy. We care too little and worry too much, and often turn a blind eye to someone’s struggle or problems. And when a person turns to spirituality, they love more, forgive more, care for all, and improve their relationship not just with fellow humans, but also with nature.
Spiritual people live with compassion and feel more connected to the energies around them.
