Mantras for students

Our world right now is filled with competition and the stress that comes with it. While we run towards academic excellence and personal growth, it is normal to encounter obstacles. And in the run for marks and scores and grades, students find themselves dealing with distractions and mental clutter. While solutions like time management techniques and study strategies are undoubtedly valuable, to be in a better mental space the chanting of some mantras won’t prove bad either!


So, if a student is stuck in a similar situation and things do not seem to be working right, these 6 mantras are believed to be of great help during times like these.

OM

The most simplest mantra of all is OM. The primordial sound of ‘Om’ is said to have great power and importance across traditions. OM represents the essence of the universe, and covers the energies of all existence within its vibrations. Chanting ‘Om’ is believed to induce a state of deep relaxation and inner peace, allowing students to shut off any excess distractions that can hamper their concentration and focus. Incorporating the chanting of ‘Om’ into daily practice can create a positive atmosphere around the individual which helps in a focused study environment.

Mahamrityunjay

Mantra - Om Trayambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushti Vardhanam, Urwar rukameva bandhanan, Mrityor mokshiya mamritaat.
The Mahamrityunjay mantra, is known to be one of the strongest mantras to chant when it comes to mental clarity and inner strength. It is often recited to overcome fears and obstacles, promoting a sense of resilience in the face of hardships and difficult situations.
By chanting this mantra, students can develop a sense of fearlessness and get the motivation and energy needed to go through the different phases of life. From academics to extracurriculars, concentrated chanting of the mantra can help develop mentally and spiritually.

Ganesh Mantra

Mantra - Om Gan Ganapataye Namaha
Lord Ganesha is known as the remover of obstacles and by chanting this mantra, students seek the blessings of Ganesha to clear away any distractions or obstacles from their educational journey. Mantra - Om bhur bhuvah swaha Tatsavitur varenayam. Bhargo Devasya dhimahi, dhiyor yona prachodayat

The Gayatri mantra is a hymn from the Rigveda, dedicated to the divine feminine energy of Goddess Gayatri. It is a powerful mantra which is chanted by people for enlightenment, and is said to remove any spells of darkness and ignorance from human beings. Chanting the Gayatri mantra is said to purify the mind and intellect, which is a great benefit for students as it can help them in clarity of thought and insight.

Saraswati Mantra

Mantra - Om Saraswati Maya Drishtwa, Veena Pustak Dharnim | Hans Vahini Samayuktaa Maa Vidya Daan Karotu Me Om
This Sanskrit mantra is a prayer to Goddess Saraswati, seeking her blessings for getting knowledge and wisdom. The mantra visualises Maa Saraswati holding a veena and a sacred book, which covers both education and creative arts. By reciting this mantra, students ask Maa Saraswati to give them the gift of learning and comprehension.
