5 things to NEVER do on Akshaya Tritiya

Remember these on Akshaya Tritiya

Akshaya Tritiya is one of the most joyous Hindu festivals that ushers in prosperity, abundance, good fortune, and improved finances for a person. Usually falling in April or May according to the Gregorian calendar, this day is marked by buying things that will bring abundance and profits in the future. For example, one prevalent practice is buying gold, silver, property, or something that will reap benefits in the future.
But, in the plethora of what to do, people at times forget what NOT to do during Akshaya Tritiya. Here we list five things one should never do on the day.

2/6

Don’t start something new (without proper planning)

Akshaya Tritiya is one of the best dates and times to start new projects and businesses, invest somewhere new, or take a leap in jobs. But, it is not the best time to do it if you haven't planned every step of the way. Starting a new venture impulsively without thorough planning will lead to unfavorable outcomes and as a human, you might blame Gods for the wrong reasons. So, before starting something new, assess the risk, conduct the research, and have a well-thought-out strategy to be sure that it is a success. Rushing into decisions without proper preparation will result in financial losses and setbacks, contrary to the spirit of prosperity and abundance that is associated with Akshaya Tritiya.

3/6

Don’t make impulsive purchases

Although the tradition of buying gold on Akshaya Tritiya goes way back in time and is a part of Hindu traditions, it is important to not make impulsive purchases during this time. Buying gold, silver, or other important things is a symbol of wealth and prosperity, but going overboard in these purchases or not buying according to your needs can seriously damage your pocket and the essence of the day will not be fulfilled.
So, while purchasing gold, make sure that you exercise caution and avoid impulsive buying. Look at your finances, set a budget, and then make a decision based on your needs and long-term financial goals.

4/6

Don't forget to donate

Akshaya Tritiya is not just about accumulating wealth but also about sharing that wealth and the blessing and fortune you have with those who don't. So, in the rush of buying gold, silver, or properties for yourself, don't forget to donate to someone who needs charity. Neglecting acts of donation and compassion on this day is totally against the spirit of generosity and abundance that the festival is a symbol of.
So, go out and buy yourself what you deem fit, and save a part of your budget for donations to charitable causes.

5/6

Don't be unethical

A simple term of Akshaya Tritiya is that what you give, comes back to you doubled. So, make sure you don't send negative energies into the Universe. On this day, and every day that comes after, watch your conduct. Being a good human is like being the magnet of prosperity and success. Doing dishonest or unethical deeds on Akshaya Tritiya goes against the moral values of the festival.
And just like the gold or property you buy will give you double profits, the misconduct you send out to the universe will also double and come back to you.

6/6

Don't borrow money or spices

Another important thing to take care of is that one should never borrow money or spices from someone else on Akshaya Tritiya. As Akshaya Tritiya is a day of prosperity and abundance, borrowing from someone shows a hint of dependence and financial strain. So, instead of starting the day with debts, focus on managing your finances and staying within your means. Especially, don't borrow money to go ahead and buy gold on that day. Many other things can be bought and donated on Akshaya Tritiya and something as small as a vessel for your kitchen counts.

Plus, borrowing spices too is seen as a symbol of scarcity. Borrowing things like salt, spices, or something similar indicates that the person does not even have the bare minimum.
