Why employees feel 'HR kisi kaam ke nahi hai'

Here's what employees think

Everyone who is working today rarely has good things to say about their HR department. They are one of the most hated departments because of the nature of their job. They cannot side with the employee and question the company and when they prioritrise the company, they are hated by the employees. So we spoke to some employees from different fields to know why they feel HRs are of no use and here is what they shared with us on condition of anonymity.

2/5

They are terrible people convinced they are the good guy

“My HR is good for nothing! They bring nothing good or useful to the table and kill the careers of people who do. They typically know nothing about their company's business, yet choose who gets to work there. They act as career assassins on the orders of bad managers. They are always looking for ‘gotcha’ moments in every conversation. They are usually terrible people who are convinced they are the good guys.”

3/5

All they do is schedule interviews & have coffee

"They really don’t do anything. Their primary tasks are scheduling interviews, conducting interviews, and then playing spinning chairs for the remaining 7.5 hours of the day. They have no idea how to perform the position they interview people for. Take an accounting position, the HR Generalists in an accounting firm have no clue about the basics of accounting but they are somehow capable of being an orbiter in deciding who moves forward in the interview process.

"They don’t even ask questions regarding accounting, they make their hiring decisions based on BS personality test questions found on Buzzfeed. They are the most completely useless individuals in any profession and they would be slinging coffee for a living if it wasn’t for the safety net of this job.”

She told my issues to the entire team

"At first, I was very confident about the HR in this new and well known company I had joined. When there was a feedback time after my probation, I brought up a few issues I had been facing but she told everyone in my team about it! I don’t even know how much masala she must have added because the way people started addressing me was rather rude and judgemental. She made me hate my job so much that now I am looking for a new one!"

5/5

Only mails, no response

"My HR keeps mailing us crappy things but they when we have a problem and we mail them, they never respond! Even on constant reminder, my HR gave me a rather snooty remark that I have nothing else to do, in different words. I have worked in 5 organisations so far and not even once have I come across an HR department that cares about the employees. They treat us like slaves and once one even said “why do employees need leaves?”
