These tricks are quite promising!

Negotiating your salary with the HR during an interview process is an essential part of it all. You should know what salary would fit you best in relation to your capabilities, skills and experience. Often, people settle for less just to bag a job but negotiating with the HR is an art. Even if discussion about salary and raises can be difficult, it is very necessary to ask for the right salary at your workplace. To help you with this, here are some psychological tricks that you can use while negotiating your salary.

2/6

Never disclose your previous salary

Never enclose the information about your previous salary. There are high chances that when they see your previous salary, they will determine your worth by that and give you a number close to that only. Not only will this impact your current salary but also impact your position.

3/6

Project your confidence more

Rely on your confidence during salary negotiations with the HR. Be confident about your skills, capabilities and accomplishments and elaborate on why you deserve a better salary. Try to even bring in a few numbers that will boost your level.

4/6

Bring in the ‘chameleon effect’

This is a great trick that many people adhere to. The ‘chameleon effect’ is where you mimic the gestures, body language and mannerisms of the person in front of you. This appeals to the other person a lot and they begin to like you. So if you do this, you are trying to project a personality that is similar to theirs, and this way, they will agree with you even more.

5/6

Focus on your words

What you say and how you say it, is what makes all the difference. Bring in words of empathy and don’t say anything that might anger or offend the recruiter. Carefully use words that will project your intellectual capability. How you negotiate will also determine if you will be a useful asset to the company or not.

6/6

Have a specific amount in mind

Always present a specific amount in mind when you are negotiating with the HR for your salary. Furthermore, avoid stating a whole figure like Rs 70,000. Rather, say something specific like Rs 72,000. This way you are letting the recruiter think that you need the amount for a specific need since you have added an extra layer.
