A humane act of love and compassion

Amidst the war-torn stories of Ukraine and Russia, humanity has once again shone the brightest. Reportedly, Ukrainian soldiers have been shown taking in stray animals under their care, or giving them the love our furry friends deserve. This beautiful action has earned the praise of civilians across the world who are glad to see that stray animals are not being neglected during the war.

Story of Rambo

Recently, a video has been making rounds on the internet where it shows the story of a puppy, now named Rambo by the Ukrainian soldiers. They said that they had found the puppy freezing out in the cold. At the time when they rescued him, Rambo was so small that he could fit into the size of a palm. Rambo now stands guard and alerts the soldiers if a stranger approaches them. The cute pupper is now a major part of the team and Rambo also gets ample pets and belly rubs.

Other similar instances

It’s not just Rambo, but many other animals who have been given shelter by the soldiers. They give the strays food, water and a place to sleep in exchange for their excellent hearing and smell, in case of any danger approaching the soldiers’ base.

Animal organisations working across the border

As thousands of Ukrainians fled Kyiv to cross into Poland, many clutched their pets close to their bodies, careful to not leave them behind. Animal organisations, like PETA Germany, positioned themselves on the border, ready to provide food, water and shelter to all the animals.
