Daily rescue of stray dogs

The situation of homeless, stray dogs in India has always been a matter of concern. With road and car accidents happening on a daily basis, it leaves these poor strays limping or in a critical state, left to die on the side of roads. The number of stray dogs in India is alarmingly large, sadly because of the lack of sterilization.

But there has been a massive change in people’s mindsets over the past few years as people have now begun to organise rescue missions for stray dogs and even organise adoption camps to give these little fur babies their forever homes. One such man who has come forward for this cause is Anupam Mehta. A runner and athlete by profession, he has been actively involved in rescuing stray dogs and helping them to find a home.

Anupam’s Instagram is the hub of all rescue and adoption activities

Anupam runs his Instagram account @frontrunner.india.anupam, where he posts photos and videos of the strays that he and his team rescues on a daily basis. It is quite heartwarming to see the amount of love and care Anupam has for these dogs, who have no place to go. Other than serving food and shelter, this team also nurses these dogs back to health, ready to be up for adoption.

#adoptdontshop

This hashtag has become another powerful medium via which stray dogs have been able to find them forever homes. With an overwhelming number of stray dogs in India, this hashtag encourages people to adopt these dogs who already need a home, rather than buying expensive breed dogs. Anupam has been actively participating in this hashtag, and via his social media presence, he has been able to share success stories where the dogs he recused have been adopted by some very generous people.
