Laziest pet dog breeds

While some dog breeds like the Labrador Retriver and Border Collie are known for being highly energetic, not all pet dogs have similar energy levels. In fact, some others are known for their laid-back attitudes or for being lap dogs. Such easy-going dog breeds are suitable for people who are elderly or those who need low-maintenance pets that don't require hours of exercise. Here we list some such laid-back dog breeds that love to lounge:

2/6

Bulldog

Be it the English Bulldog or the French Bulldog, these dog breeds are known for their relaxed and laid-back personalities. So much so that Bulldogs can nap for long durations; they usually prefer short walks or gentle physical activity to stay fit.

3/6

Basset Hound

Basset Hounds are one of the laziest dog breeds in the world. They were originally bred for hunting because of their great sense of smell, however, these dogs seem too prefer a slow lifestyle. Also, their short legs make running and jumping a challenge, so they are more likely to stroll rather than sprint. These dogs like lounging in the house; however, their owners should ensure they get some amount of physical activity to stay fit and healthy.

4/6

Shih Tzu

This small, fluffy toy dog breed love spending time with their owners, which makes them great companions for their owners. They require minimal exercise and are generally content with a short daily walk. Their maintenance includes a healthy diet, regular light exerise, and regular grooming to keep their coat in good condition.

5/6

Great Dane

Despite being huge in size, Great Danes are surprisingly quite lazy. Often fondly called "gentle giants", Great Dane are known for their calm and affectionate nature. While they need a lot of space because of their size, they don’t need excessive exercise and are often happy lounging around the house.

6/6

Pekingese

The Pekingese is another lap dog breed that prefers relaxing over being active. Originally bred as royal palace dogs in China, Pekingese still carry themselves with an air of nobility. These dogs love to be pampered and spending quality time in the comfort of their owners. They prefer short walks and indoor play instead of running around outdoors.
