Most expensive cat breeds

Are you a cat lover? Or do you want to have a pet that's easy to care for and doesn't need much of your attention, then cats are a perfect choice. But did you know that apart from the popular breeds to choose from, there are some that are both exotic and exclusive? Certain cat breeds command premium prices for reasons like rarity, unique looks, or hybrid genetics. Beyond their striking appearance, these cats often require special care and skilled breeding— factors that make them more costly than others. Here we list some of the most expensive cat breeds in the world and their price:

2/6

Ashera

The Ashera is an ultra-rare hybrid of African serval, Asian leopard, and domestic cats, and it is one of the costliest cats in the world. It can cost up to $125,000 (INR 107,48,139.29). These large, exotic-looking cats look quite similar to miniature wildcats, and often weigh around 18 kilos. They also have exotic coat patterns, which add to their rich appearance. Their scarcity, complex breeding process, and wild DNA add to their high price. And their average life expectancy around 12–20 years.

Savannah

Savannah cats are a cross between a domestic cat and the wild African serval, and they can cost from INR 1,28,977 to 21,49,627 depending on generation, as per reports. They are huge, have a spotted coat, and long legs which makes them look stunning. Also, Savannahs are highly intelligent and energetic, and so they often behave more like dogs! These cats love attention, paying with puzzles and toys.

4/6

Bengal cat

The Bengal cats are known for their wild, leopard-like spots, and they can cost between INR 1,28,977 to INR 4,29,925. These cats are a mix between the Asian leopard cat and domestic cats, and so they are muscular, adventurous, and exceptionally intelligent. They need a lot of playtime, climbing spaces, and mental challenges to stay happy and healthy. Also, they make loving companions as they are loyal, social, and vocal.

5/6

Persian cat

One of the most beautiful looking cat breeds, the Persian cats have long, luxurious coats and famously flat faces. They cost around INR 1,28,977 to INR 4,29,925. Their pedigree includes extensive genetic testing to prevent health issues like polycystic kidney disease and eye conditions— adding to their breeding costs and price. Persians are calm, affectionate, and ideal for quiet households or people who like lap cats. However, they need daily grooming to prevent coat matting and regular vet visits to stay healthy.

6/6

Sphynx

Sphynxs are recognisable for their hairlessness, wrinkled skin, and big ears and they can range from roughly INR 2,50,000 to INR 5,00,000 or more. These cats are social and playful cats, and love being the center of attention. Their lack of fur means regular skin cleaning and monitoring for temperature sensitivity. Without curls to trap oils, they need baths every few weeks. Despite the maintenance, their charming personalities and unique looks make them beloved by devoted cat lovers.
