Easy to groom dogs

Bringing a dog into a household is an exciting decision, but it is not always easy to choose the right breed because it usually means weighing a variety of factors. Things like energy level, size, personality, and grooming needs can all impact your lifestyle.

While every dog needs basic care like baths and brushing, some breeds are naturally low-maintenance when it comes to grooming. In this article we will look at some of the most low-maintenance dogs

2/6

Beagle

Friendly, curious, and full of charm, the Beagle is a small scenthound originally developed for tracking game. Today, they’re just as beloved for their gentle personalities and playful nature. While their short, smooth coats do shed, Beagles are relatively low-effort when it comes to grooming. A quick weekly brushing is usually enough to keep their coats looking clean and healthy. Thanks to their sweet demeanor and minimal grooming needs, it’s no wonder Beagles are such popular family pets.

3/6

Dachshund

Known affectionately as the “wiener dog,” the Dachshund brings a lot of personality in a small, elongated package. These dogs come in two sizes—miniature and standard—and three coat types: smooth, long-haired, and wire-haired. Of the three, the smooth-coated variety is the easiest to maintain. Dachshunds are affectionate and often hilarious little dogs, though they can be a bit stubborn. With some basic training and moderate exercise (watching those backs!), they make loyal companions and excellent lap dogs.

4/6

Greyhound

While their racing background might suggest a hyperactive personality, most Greyhounds are surprisingly mellow. These elegant, slender dogs are famous for their love of lounging and napping. They enjoy a good walk or the occasional sprint but are otherwise very low-key. Grooming is simple, thanks to their short, thin coats that rarely mat or tangle.

5/6

Boxer

The Boxer is a lively, medium-sized breed that thrives on human interaction. Known for their boundless energy and playful spirit, Boxers are wonderful additions to active households, especially those with children. Though their high energy demands daily exercise, they’re surprisingly low-maintenance in the grooming department. Their short, tight coats need little more than the occasional bath or brushing to stay in good shape.

6/6

French Bulldog

The ever-popular Frenchie is a small dog with a big personality. These compact companions are known for their quirky charm and affectionate behavior. While they do have spurts of energy, French Bulldogs typically enjoy lounging around and are well-suited to apartment life. Grooming needs are minimal thanks to their smooth coat, but owners should keep an eye on potential skin issues and breathing difficulties due to their flat faces.
