Check out the reasons why space in a relationship is important

“I need space” is something every person dreads hearing. If your partner asks for space in the relationship, you may automatically assume that your relationship is nearing its end, because that’s what most believe. However, that’s not true. Asking for space in the relationship doesn’t mean it’s going to end, but rather your partner wants some time to figure out their own stuff. Your concern is valid but know that wanting space may not always be considered a negative aspect. Interestingly, it may actually be important from time to time!

2/6

Discover your individuality

Staying in a relationship can make you forget your individuality since you are deeply connected to your partner. But when you ask for space, you are allowing yourself the opportunity to find yourself again. You can spend your time doing things that make you happy and keep you occupied. This time off can be really good for you.

3/6

Explain to your partner properly

Telling your partner you’re tired of them and you want space is something your partner is not going to be thrilled about. Calmly explain to your partner why you need space and direct it towards yourself.

4/6

A better self-connection

Once you ask your partner for space, you may feel insecure and distraught because being disconnected to your partner may make you feel miserable. But look at the bigger picture. You will feel better about yourself when you connect to your inner self. You will be in a much better state of mind when you give time to only yourself.

5/6

Taking a break

Know that it’s completely alright to take a break. You don’t have to feel pressuredd into not taking one, because it will only crumble you down from the inside. Understand that you need time to reconnect with yourself and that can be achieved only by asking your partner for space.

6/6

How should you react?

If your partner is the one who’s asking you for space, then don’t freak out. Don’t corner them. Understand why they want it and don’t make them feel guilty about it. Everyone, once in a while, needs a breather.
