Why rebound relationships might be more complicated than you think

1/6

Think carefully before you enter into one

After people go through a breakup, what most of them want is the comfort of another person. It is very common to want to get attached to another person just after ending a previous relationship because that is when the mind is most vulnerable. Many want to engage themselves in rebound relationships to forget the heartache from their ex. It is also a piece of very popular and age-old advice, “if you want to get over somebody, get under somebody.” But it isn’t very easy as most think it to be. In fact, it’s pretty complicated even if rebound relationships are generally considered to be casual. Here are some reasons why you should think twice before entering into one.

2/6

You will be in a lot of pain

When you enter a relationship, you have to be emotionally available. But that is not really possible when you are still reeling from the hurt and pain from the past relationship. Yes, you may have fun with the new person but the memories with your ex may haunt you in the beginning.

3/6

You will make impulsive decisions

Impulsive decisions aren’t always fun. They can be dangerous and emotionally wrecking. Entering into a rebound relationship just after a breakup can be a negative impulsive decision that will only hurt you further.

4/6

You may even hurt the other person

It’s not just about you. There is also another person in the rebound relationship. You have to consider their feelings as well. No matter how careful you are with your actions, your new partner may feel the brunt of being in a relationship that’s based on hurt and pain. And that’s not healthy or fair to them at all.

5/6

You will be in a process of healing

This is a very positive point but the path to healing isn’t very easy. You might feel shame, grief, anger, frustration and many other negative emotions that will impact the rebound relationship. Even if you and your partner are clear on just being physically intimate, your emotions might affect the sex as well. And then comes misinterpretation.

6/6

You will have lingering feelings

A breakup doesn’t always mean you instantly get over your ex. So, when you enter a new relationship, your lingering feelings can affect the bond you have with your new partner. It all can get super complicated!

In such a situation, you have to seriously analyse whether this entire rebound relationship is healthy for you or not. And if you still have to work on yourself, then it’s best to let go of it.
