Why is break-up sex not a good idea?

Here are several reasons why

After ending a relationship, many couples have, what is called the break-up sex. While some think it would be the best way to gain closure, here are several reasons why it is in fact not a good idea. Scroll down to know these reasons.

2/6

The attachment

Having sex with an ex-partner can reignite feelings of emotional attachment and it can also lead to confusion and hurt feelings. This happens especially if one person is hoping to reconcile while the other is not into that sentiment. Many people are unable to let go and those feelings become deeper although they had set out to do just the opposite.

3/6

False hope

Breakup sex can often give false hope of reconciliation, which can be harmful if one person is not interested in getting back together. There have been many cases where either/or have gone into depression.

4/6

Risk of STIs

If both parties have had sexual partners since the breakup, there is a risk of transmitting sexually transmitted infections (STIs) during breakup sex especially when it is unprotected sex.

5/6

No closure

Breakup sex may not provide the closure one is looking for, and instead can prolong the healing process and delay the acceptance of the end of the relationship.

6/6

Unhealthy patterns

Engaging in breakup sex can perpetuate unhealthy patterns of behavior, including using sex as a way to cope with emotional pain or using sex to manipulate an ex-partner.
