Tips to be popular among your in-laws

In Indian society, when you marry someone, you’re also marrying their family. It’s an all-deal affair. This can be quite tricky for some people as in-laws aren’t always the most cooperative ones at times. It takes a lot of convincing and effort to make them like you. Some in-laws are so possessive of their children that they get very annoying when all you’re trying to do is live your married life. The most plausible thing you can do is try all ways to be popular among them. So, here are some ways to make your in-laws like you back.

2/7

Spend time

Don’t shy away from spending time or taking them out with you for the day. This way, you can enjoy being outside and talk to them more. Make plans with them because being around them is the only way to get to know them better.

3/7

No confrontations

Don’t confront your in-laws unless absolutely necessary. The best step to winning their hearts is to listen to them if they happen to tell you something. Learn to let go of matters that won’t hold much relevance later on.

4/7

Good for your partner

Your in-laws may be very protective of their child, so you need to prove to them how much of a good partner you can be to their son or daughter. Being compatible and showcasing a good relationship with your spouse will definitely catch their attention for the better.

5/7

Involve children

Keep your children close to your in-laws and let them spend time with each other. Your children should have a close bond with their grandparents and this will also put you in the good eyes of your in-laws. But be careful, there can be arising conflicts as well!

6/7

Add positivity

Don’t delve in negative feelings or instances in front of them. Always be cheerful and happy; give them the impression that you don’t hoard any negativity towards anyone. The more you’re able to mix among your new family, the more likely they are to like you. Also, help them whenever you can.

7/7

Acceptance

You have to accept the fact that they are your spouse’s parents and that they also need time to adjust to you. Nobody’s perfect, so learn to accept the good as well as the bad in them. That’s when your in-laws will surely see the hint of maturity and understanding in you, and accept you whole-heartedly as well.
