Startling signs your partner is possessive

Possessiveness is not always alluring or appealing, as many people think. When jealous, your partner can be overly negative and repulsive, when boundaries get crossed. Being possessive means they are controlling, manipulative, and very insecure about their partner. If it continues further into the relationship, it can lead to emotional abuse. Here are some glaring signs your partner is very possessive about you.

2/7

Texting nonstop

Your partner won’t stop texting you once or twice. Instead, they will send you a plethora of messages and calls to ask you about your whereabouts. They can’t seem to trust where you are and what you’re doing and that is not a good sign. Not respecting your boundaries of texting all the time is an unhealthy habit.

3/7

Getting upset when you meet people

They will try to throw a tantrum even if you go out to meet your friends. They hate being left out and correlate that feeling with abandonment. This deep-driven insecurity fares badly when you need space and time to be with other people in your life as well.

4/7

Having unrealistic expectations

Your partner may expect you to answer their call on the first ring or come home exactly at the given time. They will refuse to cut any slack to you because they are way too worried about where and with whom you are spending more time. This kind of possessiveness is very unhealthy.

5/7

Being an obstacle in your goal path

Your possessive partner may try to stop you from achieving your goals by asking you to pay more attention to the relationship. They cannot bear the thought of you moving away abroad or working way too much at your job. A healthy partner will always want you to accomplish the best version of yourself.

6/7

Getting upset when you want space

You feel very uncomfortable talking to your partner about space because all they do is make you feel bad about wanting some alone time in the relationship. The latter is very necessary to maintain individualistic identities. Wanting some space isn’t something you should feel bad about. They will even avoid making any plans of their own, only to cling to you all the time!

7/7

Caring about what you do or wear

Your partner will not pass the chance of telling you what you should wear or not. They will try to criticize your choices, making you feel bad about yourself. That’s how critical they are of you. They might even stop you from pursuing your favorite things just because it doesn’t suit them.
