Signs you have an unhealthy obsession with someone

Having a crush on someone is all roses and beautiful dreams until you start obsessing over them! There is a very fine line between attraction and obsession. And when your obsession forces you to divert all your energies on them, that’s when it starts to become unhealthy. You’ll think about them all the time and this will restrict you from doing regular activities because they become your world! In account of this, here are some identifiable signs to find out if you have an unhealthy obsession with someone.

2/6

Hiding personal insecurities

If you have low-self esteem issues and are trying to hide your insecurities by crushing hard on someone, then it’s definitely unhealthy. You will lose your sense of individuality and will also try to validate your existence based on that person. You will tend to use that person to feel good about yourself, when in reality, you loathe your insecurities.

3/6

Only caring about outer qualities

You will find yourself immersed within that person’s outer qualities because that is what made you so infatuated with them. When the honeymoon period gets over and little flaws and fights arise, you will be unable to deal with that person’s real persona because you are completely obsessed with their outer personality. Hence, it becomes extremely troublesome, causing you to lose control and focus over your life.

4/6

Bailing out on your friends

Forget having a balance over your life, you won’t even hesitate to bail out on your best friends! You will start prioritising that person more than anyone else, causing you to lose out on your dearest and closest friends and family. You will start spending all day with your partner even though they might not do the same. You might also cancel evenings with your friends in the hope that person might just call you.

5/6

Accepting all last-minute plans

Impulsive and spontaneous plans are the best, but not at the expense of cancelling your previous plans just for that person. If you find yourself always accepting last-minute invites by ditching your friends or cancelling your hobbies, interests etc. It is a clear sign that the person is invading your time, space and mind.

6/6

Not getting upset with them, ever

You will avoid getting mad at that person because you’re afraid that they might get very upset, and leave you. You will prefer to hide your emotions even though those concerns need to be addressed. This is never advisable because bottling up your feelings will only lead to severe resentment later.
