Pros

Someone is always there for you

Having someone to whom you can go to for everything, discuss your problem, means a lot. This is the biggest selling point when it comes to being in a relationship.

Reassurance

Often we develop complexes when we are on our own. It is good to hear a few words of reassurance from a person who is not your parent or relative. It helps you feel better about yourself, you tend to be more confident.

Learning about yourself

No matter how much you feel you know about yourself, when you spend time with another person, confide in them, you realise there is so much you did not know about you. What exactly comforts you, what is your patience level, how much space you need, what makes you feel loved etc.

Takes away the loneliness

When you are on your own, there comes a moment in every person’s life when you feel lonely. You want to be that couple you see on those treks, those love birds chatting away with their hot coffees, someone whom you can call yours when the world is wishing each other Valentine’s Day. This goes away when you are with someone. You feel more secure and the feel good factor kicks in that you have he/she to just hold and talk to.

Cons

Constant reporting

In most cases, you suddenly are asked to give your location to your partner. Where are you? How long will you take? When will you get home? As a single, you do not have to answer such questions unless you have a concerned parent.

Planning

If you want to go to a restaurant or a cafe, in a relationship, it is no longer solo. You have to coordinate and plan your outings. If you are a workaholic who rarely likes to go out, you come under additional stress of meeting the other because it becomes a necessity.

It gets difficult to meet a single friend

When you are single, you can meet anyone. But if you are in a relationship, you have to plan, think of a reason to meet a friend of the opposite gender especially if your partner is insecure and jealous.

No more flirting

You cannot flirt with anyone, look around you as much when you are in a relationship. If your job is such that it requires you to meet many handsome men or beautiful women then it is crucial that you make your partner understand that. As a single, you have nothing to worry about.
