Sex is a taboo in our country. We all know sex has to happen for having babies but NO, we cannot discuss it, or show it openly in our movies. Here are some funny ways in which Bollywood showed sex, as a fresh reminder of how things have not truly changed, even in 2023! You will still change the channel when the parents walk in, you will feel awkward and uncomfortable when sex is discussed and still make derogatory remarks about the actress or the scene or situation when the topic comes up.
Flower play
Just when the couple in the movie is about to make out, the focus of the camera goes on flowers. Either the rosebud starts opening in slow motion or the flowers start shaking.
Messy bed
Messy beds were once upon a time, a way of showing the crazy action at night. In reality, if we go by this logic, our desi mothers would be throwing their chappals at us every morning when we wake up!
Footsie
Just when the moment comes that the couple wants to have sex, is playfully trying to do that, they show a lot of footwork. Two pairs of feet playing footsie, one over the other, it is a sign of a couple having sex, as per Bollywood.
Bonfire
Hot bodies, music and a bonfire with that carnal fire between two lovers were lit! It was generally some music made using a saxophone, long flames of the bonfire or fireplace and a couple nudging each other. All set for sex!
Clothes all over the rocks
How to show sex without actual movement? The camera dragging you through the rocks where the clothes of both man and woman are thrown around was the best way to show sex; in fact, it is still shown in some movies.
“Tip Tip barsa paani”
Remember the hot song “Tip tip barsa paani” which was more like the peahen dancing to woo the peacock? That was and still is a brave way of showing the foreplay before intercourse ladies & gentlemen!
Removing jewellery “dheere dheere”
I personally find it very creepy but Bollywood sure gained millions of whistles in the theatre by removing the jewellery of the actress in slow motion. This slow motion was foreplay in Bollywood for the longest time. But we must appreciate that they acknowledged the need for foreplay before sex!
