To-do list before getting hitched…

Marriage is a turning point in everyone’s life. But what follows after the wedding date is finalised is beyond anyone’s imagination. There will be 101 to-do-lists (and every day a few more list will be added), last minute shopping, booking the perfect venue and choosing the wedding dress, which will surprisingly be ready only a day before the wedding!

With so much going on and around, it’s not a surprise that the would-be bride is left with no time for herself. The day will arrive unannounced and she will realise she hasn’t yet done the things she always wanted to do—that much-promised solo trip, an one night stand with her lover and getting arrested for breaking traffic rules (just to name a few)!

.

On a serious note, those few months preceding your wedding will be the most memorable moments of your life. It is equally important to plan it out meticulously so that you can utilise and enjoy every moment to its fullest. Be prepared for last minute changes, unexpected surprises and also unwanted complications. You can sail through all the troubles smoothly and still have a great time. And, here are seven things a girl needs to do after the wedding is finalised …

2/7

Spend time with family

This should be the first thing in your priority list—spending some quality time with your parents. Remember, you will be always their little daughter. If there is anyone who is more excited and worried than you, they are none but your parents. They are letting their daughter go who is about to start a new life. Excited and happy as they are to see their daughter take her next big step, they are equally worried about her future as well. So, this is the best time to pamper them with love and affection and assure them that everything will be alright. Have family get-togethers, plan road trips or visit your ancestral home. Make those few months special for you and your parents!

3/7

Bachelorette bash

Do we even need to say that after family comes friends? So, what’s stopping you. Plan a bachelorette bash with your besties and celebrate your singlehood. Apart from partying hard, cutting a cake and going completely crazy, gift your friends something that will make the evening even more special. For instance, what about a tote bag full of gifts from their favourite brands or an album containing some embarrassing pictures of all of you!

Know him better

Amidst juggling all these plans, don’t forget to spare some time for your fiancé as well. Talk to him about his expectations from the relationship, likes, dislikes, aspirations and, of course, all the romantic stuff that matters the most. Courtship period has its own charm, and helps in strengthening the relationship. Also, it’s a good idea to spend time with his family as well. Because as the saying goes, “You are not married to a person, you marry a family!” It’s equally important to acquaint yourself with the people you will be living with. Also, a person is known by the company he keeps, which means his friends matters a lot too!

5/7

Financially independent

Let’s talk about some serious stuff. No matter how much your fiancé (who will be your husband in just a few months) earns, it is really important to be financially independent. First, it is unfair to be dependent on your better half for anything and everything you need. Remember, he too is starting a new life and it’s important that you should support him. Although, we grow up believing that a man should take the responsibility of the woman after marriage, but things have changed now. Also, you never know what the future holds and money matters the most during turbulent times. Make sure you know about all your investments, bank accounts and how to file your taxes. Being financially independent will actually make you the ‘better half’.

6/7

Learning to cook the basics

If you know how to cook, that’s good. But if you don’t, we are not asking you to learn to cook a three-course meal. At least, learn to cook the basic meals so that you and your beau can survive, in case your maid does not turn up, or there is some other emergency. It’s a life-saving skill. The way (or one of the ways) to a man’s heart is though his stomach. When everything fails, you will definitely know how to turn your man on (besides the obvious, a lot can be done with strawberry and cream!).

7/7

Know more about sex!

This is the time to let your imagination run wild. Read, discuss and learn everything about sex (if your haven’t already tried having sex). Kamasutra is a big help, and so are friends who are already married. Google and gain some information about various contraceptive methods you can opt for after marriage.Condoms or pills are not the only was to have safe sex. Plus, don’t forget to google some interesting sex positions, in case you found the Kamasutra too complicated (alert: it’s not for the faint-hearted and requires some acrobatic skills!).
