7 types of weird men you meet on dating apps

Kinds of men on dating apps

If you have ever used a dating app, we bet you would relate to most of the points mentioned in this story. Once you start checking out men’s profiles on dating apps and go on a few dates, you can fit most of these users into a few common categories. From the ones looking for hook-ups to those ready to get married within a month, here are seven kinds of men you are bound to meet in the world of online dating.

2/8

The serious ones

There exists a section of men on dating apps who are looking for their ‘life partners’ and won’t mind proposing the idea of getting married after meeting for a few times. They treat dating apps as matrimonial sites and look for a prospective wife. Beware, they might emphasise on meeting your family members, involve their family and make future plans beyond your imagination.

3/8

The sapiosexual, bibliophile, cinephile, cynophile…

These men love to flaunt their vocabulary with fancy words like logophile, sapiosexual, bibliophile, pogonophile etc. but might not necessarily know the meaning of these words. Their profile would be full of such words, a few famous quotes, lines from a poem and all the jazz. Well, if boasting about vocabulary and language impressed women, writers would have been the luckiest men ever.

4/8

The only-here-for-sex ones

There are some men who are pretty upfront that they want to have some ‘fun time’ and are only looking for a hook-up. After asking you a few courteous questions (think hello, what’s up, what are your hobbies), they come to the point and ask whether you are interested in a one-night stand or an open relationship. If all is good, they continue chatting. And if you are not interested in the deal, they wouldn’t think twice before unmatching you.

5/8

Married man looking for ‘just friends’

Well, there is no guarantee that every man on a dating app is unmarried. You will come across profiles where married men are seeking to be ‘just friends’ with single women or looking to have fun outside their marriage. Some even claim that their wives know about their profile on the dating app and are completely okay with it. And the worst, some even do not disclose their marital status. Hope, dating apps develop better algorithms to ban such profiles.

6/8

Mr Workout

These are one of the most common profiles. The first picture is a gym selfie, the second one flaunts his six-pack abs, and the profile description makes it even more apparent that he loves his body. Well, you have surely found a match if you are a fitness freak as well. For the rest, don’t lose hope and keep swiping left.

7/8

The stalkers

Some men will check your profile on a dating app and develop an instant crush on you. And if they don’t get to talk there, what’s next? They will start stalking you on social media. They will send you friend requests, messages and even ‘poke’ to draw your attention. Well, somebody tell them that if the woman actually liked their profile, you both would have been already chatting on the dating app itself, right?

8/8

The broken hearts

There is also an interesting category of ‘broken hearts’ that dominates the world of dating apps—men who have created a profile to nurse their broken hearts after an ugly break-up. A few of them are looking for rebound relationships, some are hunting their ex-partner’s look alike and many simply love sharing the story of what went wrong in their past relationship.
