Getting pregnant can be tricky

Getting pregnant can be tricky. Couples who are trying to conceive would relate to the statement for they are aware of the struggle and the several things that have to be kept in mind in order to get everything right and finally get the ‘good news’. The reason it becomes much tougher than it is, is because most people are unaware of the basic factors that determine your chances of getting pregnant. In addition to this, there are other tips that can enhance the chances of conception. Here are certain things that you can keep in mind in order to improve your chances of getting pregnant.

2/6

Get tests and check-ups done

Getting a pre-conception check-up is one of the most important steps that can better your chances of conception. Before you officially start trying, it is important to eliminate any obstructions that might come your way. Supplements of folic acid and other pre-natal vitamins will help in the healthy development of the baby and prevent defects such as spina bifida.

3/6

Understand your menstrual cycle

Having an elaborate understanding of one’s menstrual cycle is very important to ensure conception. The first day of menstruation is considered to be the first day of your cycle. Fourteen days from this day, the ovulation phase begins which lasts for about a week and is the best time to try for conceiving. Ovulation period may differ from woman to woman and its length, too, can vary. Getting to know your cycle properly will help exactly determine the most fertile days so that you can try more frequently.

4/6

Positions don't matter

You might have heard that sex positions can change the way in which conception is affected as certain positions increase the probability of conception. However, there is no such relation between the probability of conception and sex positions. Only certain exceptions such as standing or sitting during intercourse can compromise the position of the cervix in such a way that it can hamper the entry of sperms into the vagina.

5/6

No 'feet in the air' but lie in bed

It has commonly been heard that lying in bed with your feet in the air after intercourse can help with conception but it is not so. Lying in bed for ten to fifteen minutes after having intercourse will allow the sperm entering the cervix to stay there and facilitate fertilization. Do not go to the bathroom or move your pelvis too much during this time.

6/6

Regular sex is key

Having sex more often during the ovulation phase is a good idea that can help conceive but over doing it is never the solution. Having sex regularly, whether you’re ovulating or not is one of the most highly recommended health suggestions. It is also important to take care of the sperm quality by ensuring healthy habits and minimum contact with electronic devices such as cellphones.
