Questions to ask your mom before it's too late

We all have seen them as the most emotional parent, but there’s more we have never cared to see

Moms are the ones who cry when you cry; because they feel your pain more than you feel it. Mothers have mostly been very expressive in their emotions, which is what we believe and understand about our mothers.

But there are several things that we do not know about the powerhouse of love and affection. We don’t care to know beyond what is shown to us about the one that keeps the home together.

Here are a few things you should ask your mother, before she is gone.

2/7

"Tell me when did you feel blessed to be a mother"

No mother would deny answering this question. Just like everyone has their special moment for the role they have, moms too have their sweet bitter moments to share with all.

The problem is we never ask them!

Ask your mom what made her proud and blessed to be a mother and what she feels about that to this day.

3/7

"What was the hardest thing you had to face as a mother?"

Every individual is blessed with a life that is full of happiness and sadness, which philosophers say are to teach us the values of each phase of life.

Ask your mother, over a cup of tea, what was the hardest thing she faced in her life as a mother. The answer might be a life lesson for you. The answer might open up the doorway to a fresh realization.

4/7

"What do you regret most about your life?"

There must be few regrets of your mother, but as is the nature of motherhood she keeps things to herself only.

Though it is late to know her regrets, disclosing it to someone as close as one’s own kids can be a great relief.

Do make your mom comfortable and ask this question; they might not speak up promptly fearing that their regret may make you feel guilty.

5/7

"Who was your inspiration?"

Every individual looks up to another one for inspiration; the same way you look up to your mother and father.

Ask your mom about her inspiration. Try to find out what inspired the woman you worship.

6/7

"What was it you always wanted to become, but could not?"

Moms and dads sacrifice a lot to put a family together.

Some sacrifice their hobbies, some put a stop to their passion and some even pause their career in order to make sure that the family runs together.

Find out what your mother had always wanted to be and ask her if she wants to start that now. Motivate her to understand that age is just a number and it is never too late to start anything new.

7/7

"Where do you think I should improve myself?"

Your mother loves you unconditionally, but there are certain things that parents always want to change in us.

Moms hesitate to speak about improvement for they believe their kids are the best. Try to bring up this discussion with your mom and listen to what she says about you.

Even if it is something terrible about you, your mom will always say it in the most genial manner.
