Indian moms! 5 signs you have the 'Raja Beta Syndrome'

Signs your motherly love is overboard

Excess of everything is bad, right? While we all know our moms love us till infinity, most mums wouldn't skip a beat to scold their kids when they go wrong. However, sometimes your love for your son can make you treat the kid like a king, unfurling – most times – a spoiled brat. What's more, if you do not keep a check on your parenting style, you could continue to have the Raja Beta Syndrome even when your son is a grown, supposedly independent man. Here are 5 signs that show you are raising or have already raised a 'Raja Beta'.

2/6

Spoiling him with every luxury

Moms of Raja Betas cannot deny their desires and whims. They'll go out of their way to keep their child happy – whether it means buying super expensive toys for him or cooking his favorite meal late at night just because he demands so. You probably keep your son's room in tip-top condition and hardly trouble him to do household chores.

3/6

He doesn't need to go in the kitchen

Raja betas do not need to go in the kitchen. The only thing they might be able to cook is instant noodles. They are far away from being independent and are always dependent on their mother or wife for meals. It won't be surprising if they also consider cooking as 'inferior' or 'feminine'.

4/6

Keeping a check on daughters-in-law to take care of their son

Moms of Raja Betas are not able to let go of their son – even when he is a working, married adult. They may keep asking their daughter-in-law whether their son was fed in time for his lunch, what they gave him to eat and so on. They may not pay the same level of attention for their daughter-in-law's hunger status.

5/6

Ignoring his mistakes or bad actions

All kids make mistakes that can hurt others around them. It is a big parental responsibility to teach your child to be empathetic enough to not just think about themselves but others as well. However, if you dismiss your son's incorrect behavior, you will only motivate him to continue practicing it and not care enough whether he is hurting someone else's feelings or not.

6/6

He won't be able to take his own decisions

It is hard for mothers of Raja Betas to accept that their little boy is grown up and smart enough to take care of himself and protect himself when things go South. As a result, they are always worried about where he is and might keep calling him all the time to check on him. They might be annoyed if he takes any decision without consulting them for their wisdom.
