The ancient Indian poet and saint has quite simply elucidated the larger-than-life role of our teachers and educators in our lives when he wrote the couplet to sing the glory of the Guru. Whether you still remember your primary grade teacher fondly as she helped you grow into a more confident version of yourself or you are still completely in awe of your college professor, who gently nudged you to follow the life of your dreams--we all have some priceless memories associated with some of our absolutely favourite teachers.

While we may never be able to thank them enough for all the little and big life lessons they have taught us throughout our most formative years, Teachers' day presents us with the opportunity to at least remind our educators of their endless contribution in the life of their students.

Every year, Teachers' day is celebrated on the 5th of September in India to honour and celebrate the unflinching commitment of educators, mentors and teachers in bettering the lives of their students. Even during the pandemic scare, teachers can be seen going above and beyond to ensure that their students keep up with the syllabus and do not lag, no matter how testing the times get.

A lot of senior teachers can be seen juggling with new technologies of virtual classrooms just so their pupils can continue their quest for learning. In our country, Teachers' day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who is an Indian philosopher and academic, who also served as the first Vice President and Second President of independent India.
