Do you feel your kid is lazy? You might be wrong; check these scientific explanations

Nothing bothers parents more than a lazy kid

Parents want their kids to be active, super active in fact. The very thought that the kid is lazing away, showing no interest and is making excuses dreads parents.

However, certain times this interpretation around the so-called lazy kids is wrong. Parents, blinded by their own version of analyzing the kids, overlook the primary reason behind the activity shown by the kid and just casually term it as being lazy.

Here are few scientific explanations on why your idea of laziness might be wrong and something else actually:

2/7

Developmental disability

Many times kids who are struggling with their own disabilities like learning challenges are often said to be lazy.

Learning difficulties makes these kids less interested in several things which kids of their age find amusing.

A research done by Queensland University of Technology in Australia had found that around 17 kids from the 20 participants actually had learning disability while their parents thought they were lazy.

3/7

Insufficient sleep

While we all believe that kids sleep peacefully, we are unaware that there can be several complications that might be disturbing the sleeping pattern of the kid.

Insufficient sleep will hamper the mental well being of the child as a result of which he or she will appear to be less interested in daily activities and tend to be sleepy.

4/7

Depression and anxiety

Kids can also be depressed and anxious. Low mental activity will affect the physical alertness of the child as well.

These kids do not get the energy that can drive them to pursue an activity which other kids of their age do not have.

5/7

Strained relationship with parents

Take it or leave it, parental relationships have the biggest impact on the child. A child who has parents who are controlling, not so close, not so supportive is likely to be demotivated.

Such kids always appear lazy as they find it difficult to come out of the strained relationship they share with their parents and focus on other things.

6/7

Insufficient nutrition

Vitamin and mineral deficiency can also make kids inactive and lazy. It is therefore essential to get them tested at regular intervals and provide them with adequate supplements.

In the growing years, a kid needs different amounts of macro and micronutrients.

7/7

What parents should know?

If your child is not performing well in school, or if the homework is not done on time, or if you are getting too many complaints from the school you need to keep patience, find the reason and then ask your child about it.

Labeling a child as lazy without understanding the real cause might not leave any room for recovery.
