All you need to know about the perfect parenting approach

Parents are the greatest teachers of a child who not only safeguard their child from all the worldly dangers but often let them go through tough situations in order to make them mentally stronger. You as a parent would always want your child to be the best everywhere he goes and hence you try out different tactics for their all round development.

While every parent prefers his or her own unique and comfortable parenting style, certain basic ideas and principles remain the same such as the amount of control, sensitivity, warmth or responsibility etc. There exists 4 types of parenting characteristics through which a combination of strategies for parenting is made to fit accordingly.

These 4 characteristics are:

2/6

Permissive parent

When a parent broadens his thinking aspect regarding his child and tries to develop more of a friendship role in the child’s life. It naturally restricts the amount of conflicts (ideas or choices). A child will obviously find his parents comfortable to share his feelings and stress with. Such a parent is lenient and less or rarely demanding.

3/6

Authoritative parent

Such parents are generally so involved and alert about their kids. They predominantly set definite rules, regulations and expectations for their kids. The basic goal for parents is to imbibe honesty, value and discipline in their kids and hence they remain highly proactive for their kids' lives.

4/6

Neglectful parent

Such a parent is neither involved or motivated to make any difference in their children’s lives. They carry out absolutely minimal conversations with their kids and hence have a cold bonding with them. These kinds of parents are inactive due to their own personal problems and struggles due to which they fail to offer particular attention or guidance to their kids.

5/6

Authoritarian parent

Parents are generally demanding and strict under this parenting approach. They impose tough and strict rules to regulate discipline and control over their kids.

6/6

Which is the best one to choose?

Be it a permissive parent or authoritarian parent, no approach is termed as the best or the worst. All you need to remember as a parent is nothing in excess is good. You need to offer warmth, strictness and control according to the situation. Just for example; an permissive parent is required to be invasive and vigilant when it’s the matter of their child’s safety or mental well-being. While an uninvolved parent requires to settle down or manage his/her difficulties in order to generate vital communication with their children. Hence, in order to establish your suitable parenting style, work on what’s suitable according to you depending upon your judgement and circumstances.
