7 important tips for kids to avoid distraction and increase focus

Like adults, children also need motivation in their lives to improve, grow, and become the best version of themselves. While growing up, there are many distractions, but learning how to overcome them and become the best version of ourselves is what we need to learn today, because learning it tomorrow might put you at a disadvantage the day after. The saying that goes like "Your future is created by what you do today, not 'tomorrow'"—Robert Kiyosaki—is a perfect reminder that teaches us the importance of today.
Let us look at some important tips that can help our kids avoid distractions

If you think punishing your kids is the answer, then NO!

Sometimes, as parents, the only easy way to make our children focus better is to punish them and make them realize their mistakes, but that makes them rebel more. Instead of punishing them, try using positive reinforcements for once; it can prove to be a powerful tool helping your distracted child realize the important things here. A simple praise, such as “good job” or “great work,” goes a long way! These kind words stay with them, and before doing anything that might get them into trouble, they will remember this moment with you and might back off.

Be patient

Badgering them to study, learn new things, make new friends, or do anything can make them more distracted. Children are more likely to get distracted easily; it's their nature, but pressuring them, instead of teaching them with patience, will only make them more stubborn. With time and a little patience, your children will learn how to steer their directions and find their focus.

Try to break their tasks into manageable chunks

If you pour it all out on them, they might feel pressurized and hence will avoid any further tasks given by you. Children need time to understand; their minds can only take so much at one point. Instead of doing the work given by you, they will prefer to do something they want to such as playing video games, playing outside, and roaming with friends. If you break their tasks into smaller, more manageable chunks, the tasks would feel less daunting, and they are more likely to finish them in time with positive reinforcements.

Focus on making the tasks more like games and fun

Ask yourself. Will you do anything that seems boring to you? Probably not. Similarly, your kids need something new every day; it is not about making everything seem like a game, but to increase their focus and enhance their productivity, you need to learn how to take boring things and turn them into magical ones to avoid distracting your kids. Try and involve your children with you; make them set the table with you, and teach them basic activities like putting things in order of their sequence. These things usually attract kids, hence improving their focus altogether.

Offer them a rich diet

As parents, we try and offer the best to our kids. The same goes with what they eat. Now, kids can be picky eaters, avoiding greens and proteins, two most essential components of our diet. Diet plays a critical role in their development. offering them a protein-rich diet, avoiding junk and strictly avoiding sugar, will help their increase their concentration levels. Their diet should be balanced, sometimes, junk and sugar is fine. Remember, everything is good if it is in moderation.

Reduce the distractions around

Limiting their use of technology nowadays is something no parent can do. What you can do is fix their time. When and how much screen time they are allowed to watch and what shows they can watch. It is proven that most children tend to perform better in a distraction- and stress-free environment. Familiarize your children with the outside world; make them see the beauty is not in sitting in our houses; instead, it is to go out and enjoy nature.

Fix your child’s sleeping schedule

Think of it yourself: as an adult, will you be able to work, giving your 100% to all the tasks, if you didn’t sleep properly? Sleep schedule is another factor that determines your child’s willingness to work and focus better. It is more likely for your child to concentrate better after a good night’s sleep. Make sure they get proper 9-12 hour sleep if you don't want their cranky behavior to get in the middle.
