7 Behaviour traits children directly acquire from their mothers

A mother is the first and strongest influence in the life of her children. Before a child is able to follow instructions or directions, they tend to watch and follow the actions and reaction patterns of the mother. The following are the first seven things that a child learns from the behaviour patterns demonstrated by the mother.

2/8

Attitude towards relationships

How a mother interacts socially and resolves conflicts helps shape what relationships should look like for children. Good communication, conflict resolution, and support are all models that children will carry into relationships. Learning these concepts at a young age helps build lifelong relationships.

3/8

Discipline

From the formation of habits to handling responsibilities, a mother’s day-to-day activities tend to have a great influence on a child’s discipline. Consistency in time management, cleanliness, and follow-through in other areas helps children understand the concept of structure and responsibility.

4/8

Coping with challenges

There are always issues in life that children observe their mother reacting to on a daily basis. They learn what it means to cope with life by watching their mother stay calm, look for solutions, and ask for help, which results in effective learning.

5/8

Self-confidence and self-esteem

A child tends to emulate the views and treatment of themselves that are reflected by their mother. A child will learn to respect themselves if their mother is able to respect her own views and practice self-respect.

6/8

Empathy and compassion

Children learn to empathize with people through the way their mother treats others relatives, friends, and even strangers. Children learn important lessons about kindness and care for others through simple actions of kindness and understanding shown by their mother. These actions teach children to be considerate and sensitive individuals.

7/8

Communication and listening skills

The mother’s way of speaking, listening, and responding to her child offers the child important lessons in communication. Speaking to children in a respectful tone, making eye contact with them, and patiently listening to them teaches children to communicate in a respectful and clear way.

8/8

Emotional expression

Children learn from the manner in which their mother displays happiness, anger, frustration, and sadness. If the mother recognizes and controls her emotions in a careful manner, children learn to recognize the fact that it is okay to experience emotions. Through their mother, children learn how not to display emotions with fear and anger.
