Why isn't watching TV that bad?

We can't count how many times we have heard or read that our kids shouldn't watch TV and how bad it is for them. The harm it will cause them in every way. And that they shouldn't watch TV in particular till they are two years old. Let's be practical because technology ain't that bad. We may receive our share of flak for it but here's why you should let your kid watch television:

2/6

It’s informative

Believe it or not, instructional TV truly is educational. Be picky about the shows they watch! There is plenty of educational stuff available with a variety of channels available. The list would go on forever and include science, geography, history, travel, wildlife, sports, health, nutrition, and agriculture. It guarantees that your child will retain more information when they watch, for instance, a documentary about wildlife, as opposed to poring over the same information in a written book.

3/6

First brush with technology

It's a tech world here. In some way, it affects their future. It will be to their advantage if they are familiar with how computers, iPads, and other technology operate. Letting them watch TV will incorporate technology into their activities. They’ll get in tune with the functioning of remotes, USBs and connecting wires.

4/6

Introduction to the world of information

Children need to stay current on current events in this era of knowledge explosion. There are several news stations, advertising, and documentaries that serve up a wealth of information to kids. Such knowledge keeps kids informed about what's going on around them and connects them to the rest of the world.

5/6

Develop social, and cultural responsiveness

Children become more aware of the culture they live in, as well as the common standards and norms, through watching a range of television shows. Children learn about many cultures and customs through television. Additionally, it makes sure that kids are aware of their civic responsibilities and have a civic consciousness.

6/6

Strengthening family ties

Don't you still remember the movies you watched on a Sunday afternoon with the entire family huddled together? Well, why not give the same sense of togetherness and love to your kids? What better way for a family to unwind at the end of the day than to watch TV together? It is one activity the whole family may do together to improve their relationship.
