Serve your drink in the right glass

While hosting dinner, it is important to know whether you are using the right glass for your drinks. So whether used for serving Wine or Beer, Scotch or Champagne, a glass can actually speak volumes. Not all drinks can be served in all types of glasses and there is always an interesting reason behind it.
2/8

The Old Fashioned Rock Glasses

Liquor 'one the rocks' was named after these short and stout glasses that are ideal for those old fashioned bourbon blends and the classic scotch whiskeys. These glasses are perfect for serving liquor with ice as they usually have a thin-walled circular rim with a heavy bottom making it classy and sturdy.
3/8

Collins Glasses

Tall and thin, these glasses were exclusively designed keeping in mind the Tom Collins cocktails and can hold similar drinks as a highball glass.
4/8

Flute Glasses

Dainty and exceptionally stunning they are used exclusively for Champagne and Sparkling Wines. These glasses have been designed keeping in mind the carbonation of the drink to last for a long time.
5/8

Martini Glasses

Probably the most iconic glassware in the history of drinks, the they have a cone-shaped body with a wide rim. Though delicate and dainty, these glasses are very different from the flute glasses as they have been stunningly designed to bring out the alluring whiff for a drinker's delight. Fairly small in size these glasses are meant for drinks without ice.
6/8

Highball Glasses

These robust, tall glasses are very often used as standard multi-purpose tumblers for many of the classic cocktails as they have an ideal size to accommodate lots of ice and the mixer.
7/8

Wine Glasses

Red wine is served in a wide mouth glass where it is easy to swirl the wine and inhale the aroma. White wine glasses have a smaller rim. Though there are many stemware glasses for wines, these two are the most common.
8/8

Beer Glasses

Chugging beer is more fun when you have the right mug, a beer glass has umpteen types. From large mugs to pilsner glasses, however, you need not get confused seeing all the variety. Pint glasses work great with almost all beers.
