According to Vastu Shastra traditions and popular beliefs, there exist some plants whose presence within the house in the specific direction enhances the environment and the energy within it. The following seven plants are recommended plants to bring luck and positive energy to your home:

Tulsi (Holy Basil)

Tulsi, or the Holy Basil Plant, is one of the most sacred plants in Vastu Shastra. This plant acts as an energiser by purifying the environment and eliminating negative energy from the house. This plant should ideally be placed in the northern, northeastern, or Eastern corner of the house. This plant has the capability of freshening the environment and has numerous medical benefits as well.

Money Plant (Pothos)

The Money Plant is also taken to be a symbol of money, prosperity, and financial security in Vastu Shastra. The money plant has green leaves that are said to bring good luck to the house and also facilitate the good flow of positive energy inside the house. The money plant also symbolises success if the vines are healthy and are climbing upwards.

Lucky Bamboo (Dracaena sanderiana)

Lucky Bamboo is believed to bring good luck, positivity, and harmony into the home according to Vastu. It is often placed in the east or southeast direction to maximise beneficial energy and encourage prosperity. Traditionally, the number of stalks also carries meaning, e.g., five for health, eight for growth and abundance. Its easy care and sturdy nature make it a popular Vastu plant choice.

Snake Plant (Sansevieria)

In Vastu Shastra, the Snake Plant is treasured for its protective values and energy purification. It is believed to help reduce negative energy and improve focus and well‑being when kept in southeast or southern corners. The plant also releases oxygen at night, contributing to cleaner air and a calmer environment; it supports physical and energetic balance.

Areca Palm

“Areca Palm” is one of the most common Vastu plants that is known to imbibe mental clarity and serenity. Keeping it in the eastern or northern part of the house will also enable one to enjoy a balanced and equanimous environment. It not only improves ambiance but also proves to be a natural humidifying and air-purifying agent in a house.

Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum)

Peace Lily denotes the presence of peace, harmony, and spiritual calmness in Vastu shastra. Peace Lily is generally used in the bedtime or peaceful part of the house, as it consists of white flowers and green leaves that help to clean the negative energy by creating a peaceful atmosphere. This plant is also a good tool to purify the air.

Another recommended Vastu plant is Aloe Vera, which has many healing powers along with the ability to attract positive energy. Aloe Vera plant, as per beliefs maintains positive health, prosperity, and development along with smooth flow of energy within a home. It is also an effective natural air freshener.

Plants have significant importance in Vastu Shastra, not only spiritually but in a dual manner: they increase positivity, harmony, and prosperity in the residential areas.
