5 ways to SMARTLY prepare your house for monsoon

Rains are here and this time we have the privilege to enjoy this season by being at home with our family. But rains also bring along the usual monsoon ailments for the house. From drain bloks, to seepage in the walls and pests, one must keep the house monsoon ready before the rain starts pouring in because otherwise it would be too late to be handled. Here are some checks you need to make sure are done in your house before monsoon hits your city.
2/6

Rugs and carpets

If you have fancy rugs and carpets, it is advisable to roll them up and wrap them in plastic sheets to store in a dry place. Moisture in air caused by rains is harmful for them. Moulds and pests might make them home soon.
3/6

Expert’s advice for sewage

We recommend that you call in an expert to check if all the drains in your house are working fine. Any kind of clogs may lead to a bigger problem later. Moisture is bad for chrome-plated faucets too and it is better to assure their proper functioning before monsoon knocks your doors.
4/6

Install an umbrella/ footwear stand outside house

Keep a make-shift umbrella stand outside your house so that you do not get the wet one inside the house at all. Similarly, it would be a great idea to put a footwear stand outside your house too so that whenever someone enters, they do not get any kind of infection or dirt inside the house. This will also be a good way to stay protected from coronavirus.
5/6

Protect your closet

Insects attack the closets easily during monsoon and since in the situation of this current pandemic, we are not stepping outside and not using our wardrobe much, which is not a great news for the wardrobe. Keep neem leaves or cloves between your clothes as they keep the insects at bay and also keep away the damp smell.
6/6

Kitchen storage needs attention

Monsoon makes everything damp, even the kitchen storage jars. The sugar gets sticky, coffee starts freezing up and most ingredients develop weevils. For ingredients like salt and coffee, you can throw in some rice grains that keep the moisture away. And for storing rice and other grains or pulses, you can stalk inside the jar dried turmeric finger.
