Contrasting shower technique

There's a a type of shower which may not only help you lose weight but may also help you get rid of that stubborn cellulite. And this shower technique is - Contrasting shower! Contrasting shower means taking hot and cold shower one after the other. It’s easy, effective and the results are pleasing. Assuming that you indulge in workout, in case of contrasting shower, it is said that the more rigorous your workout is, the more effective is the contrasting shower. In fact, according to studies, Romans practiced this way back, so this technique is nothing new.

The concept

THE CONCEPT: The concept behind taking cold and hot shower together is when you take hot shower, it makes the blood flush into the body by opening up the vessels. Then, switching to cold water will drive the blood inward to warm and thus, protect the internal organs from cold. Then, when you switch to warm water again, it will help the blood flowing again.

3/6

How it helps

HOW IT HELPS: This practice is believed to reduce DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) which reduces the amount of lactate in the blood and inflammation. Not only contrasting showers are capable of detoxing your body but also, helping your organs work better. This contraction and dilation helps the body get rid of toxins too.

4/6

The principle

THE PRINCIPLE: Remember 3:1. Your hot shower has to be three times longer than your cold shower. You can start with any temperature, which you can handle but the ratio has to be 3:1. For example, 90 seconds of hot shower has to be followed by 30 seconds of cold shower. Not only this, you have to repeat this cycle two-three times in one go.

5/6

A contrasting shower

A CONTRASTING SHOWER: A contrasting shower helps to boost your metabolism. The higher the metabolism, the more calories you burn. Do we need to say more? Not only this contrasting shower helps you to get rid of toxins, it also normalises blood circulation. It strengthens the cardiovascular system and reduces fatigue.

6/6

Keep in mind

KEEP IN MIND: You should practice contrasting showers only when you are in good health. The temperature difference between both the types of water should not be more than 30 degrees. There should be a gap of minimum two hours between you sleep and take contrasting shower if you take it in the evening. Never ever get your head wet during a contrasting shower. Wait for at least 30 minutes after taking a shower if you have to go outside.
