Avoid these shower mistakes

The perfect way to unwind and get relief from the hot weather is by taking a soothing bath. The benefits of bathing are discussed every now and then but mistakes that we often make while taking a shower is rarely talked about. Here we have listed some common mistakes that most of us make while taking a bath.

2/9

Hot shower or cold?

This choice is critical for your skin. For summer, a cold water bath (room temperature water) should be used. And in winter, instead of hot water bath, use lukewarm water for bathing. Ayurveda suggests that in winter, we should bathe in lukewarm water and try to use room temperature water to wash your head as warm water may damage eyes and hair. Thus, avoid hot water bath as it can make skin excessively dry; develop flakes on the head skin and could also make your hair frizzy. Wash your head with a mild shampoo followed by a good conditioner.

3/9

Switching shampoos frequently

Changing your hair cleanser and conditioner too frequently can make your hair suffer. There are studies that say changing your hair products depends on various factors. Seasonal changes, changes in your diet, age, use of chemical products and medical treatments are a few scenarios that may demand change in your shampoo and conditioner. Use mild hair cleanser and conditioner.

4/9

Choosing a shower gel

Excessive use of shower gel or body wash with too much lather should be avoided. It can strip natural body oils from your body, making skin itchy and dry. It is also responsible for aggravating some skin problems like eczema.

5/9

Rinsing soap

Are you one of those who often steps out of shower with a frothy patch on body and pat dry it with a towel? This is definitely not a good practice. Properly rinsing soap off your body is important as it may cause skin irritation.

7/9

Avoid rubbing with a towel

Gently pat dry your body, rather than rubbing harshly with a towel. Wiping your body harshly may cause body hair breakage and might irritate your skin. Moreover, avoid wrapping your hair in the towel for long as this practice can make your hair fragile and can cause hair fall.

8/9

Too long in the shower

Taking shower for a longer duration makes your skin dry. It can also cause rashes and itching. Ten minutes is the optimal time that you should spend in shower.

9/9

Verdict

There is nothing more pleasant as taking shower after a long tiring day. Avoiding shower mistakes can definitely make your bathing time more relaxing. (Image Courtesy: Shutterstock)
