Stuck at home during lockdown? Home remedies to cure minor illnesses

Though severe illnesses would require medical attention but you can resort to the goodness of your kitchen ingredients to cure your minor illnesses with the below given tips. These home remedies will help you cure yourself without any medicines, and that too naturally.

Disclaimer: It is essential to report to a doctor in case you have prolonged symptoms or your symptoms worsen.

2/6

Cough

Ginger acts like a magic wand on cold and cough. You can boil it in water or make a ginger tea as ginger always helps in relieving rigid coughs. In case of absence of medicines, you can drink ginger tea or mix its juice with honey and drink it thrice a day to cure dry coughs and cold.

3/6

Runny nose

Wiping your nose every other minute could be a tough task when you are stuck in your home. In such a situation, getting facial steams could bring large amounts of relief. As steam cleanses your nose, it helps in stopping the runny nose for hours together. You can also drink hot tea or do ‘jal neeti’ under the supervision of someone who knows how to do it properly. Another interesting way to stop a runny nose is eating spicy food. Yes, you read that right. Eating spicy food not only opens your nose but also helps in cleansing it.

4/6

Sore throat

Having a sore throat is probably the worst feeling to have. Having no medicines for it makes it worse. If you too are suffering from a sore throat and have nothing to cure it, then these tips might come handy. Gargle for at least 5 minutes with a glass of warm water and a pinch of salt in it. Warm a bit of honey and add black pepper to it. Now gulp a spoon of it every 2-3 hours to relieve your pain.

5/6

Fever

An age-old home remedy to bring down fever is putting cold compress on your forehead. Repeated use brings down fever in no time. In case you are down with fever, you must drink a lot of fluids, avoid using too many blankets and wear light clothes.

You can also drink a glass of lukewarm water which is first boiled with ginger, giloy, tulsi, neem, cloves and a bit of black pepper.

6/6

Acidity

Eating spicy food and lying down right after eating might give rise to problems like acidity. If you are stuck at home and do not have medicines to cure your acidity, here is a tip for you. You can drink buttermilk or kokum sherbet along with cumin and fennel seeds in it, to get an instant relief.

Drinking a glass of water with a pinch of baking soda will also give you a much-needed relief. In order to prevent problems like acidity, you should avoid excess of spicy food, tea and coffee.
