Have these Ayurvedic herb to control your blood pressure

High blood pressure or hypertension is a common health condition that affects both men and women above the age of 40. The number of people suffering from this chronic disease has increased considerably in the past decades. The problem with high BP is that its symptoms remain undiagnosed for a long time, which increases the risk of stroke and kidney failure. But the good news is that the condition can be easily managed by following healthy lifestyle habits, medication and Ayurvedic herbs. Here we have listed 5 Ayurvedic herbs that you must try to control your blood pressure level.

2/6

Ashwagandha

Stress is the major cause of high blood pressure and there is no better remedy than ashwagandha to calm your mind. This popular Ayurvedic herb is a rich source of adaptogens, that has a calming effect on the mind and helps to cope up from anxiety and stress. Moreover, it can also help to boost your immunity. Mix 1 teaspoon of ashwagandha powder in a glass of warm water and drink it early morning on an empty stomach to keep your blood pressure level in control.

3/6

Basil

The holy basil has both religious as well as Ayurvedic importance. The green leaves with mild flavour contain very powerful compounds that are known to be effective in treating several health-related issues like blood pressure, cold, flu, arthritis and others. The basil leaves contain eugenol, a compound that is known to control high blood pressure by acting as a natural calcium channel blocker. Calcium channel blockers obstruct the flow of calcium into the heart and arterial cells, which in turn relax the blood vessels. Both drinking basil tea and chewing raw basil leaves have similar health benefits.

4/6

Amla

Amal or Indian Gooseberry is a winter superfood. The compounds present in this winter fruit helps to reduce high blood pressure by acting as a vasodilator, or by widening the blood vessels. It is recommended to have 1 raw amla in the morning on an empty stomach for best results. If the fruit is not available then one should have amla juice with warm water.

5/6

Triphala

Triphala is highly efficacious polyherbal Ayurvedic. It is widely used for gastrointestinal and rejuvenating treatments. It is a traditional ayurvedic mixture of three dried herbs-Indian gooseberries (Emblica Officinalis), black myrobalan (Terminalia chebula), and Haritaki (Terminalia chebula). It's anti-inflammatory properties reduce the strain on the blood vessels and help to control the high blood pressure. Consuming two teaspoons of triphala powder is good for high BP and high cholesterol patients.

Arjuna

The bark of Arjuna tree has a strong anti-hypertensive property. This Ayurvedic herb is best known for controlling hypertension and reducing the accumulation of plaque in the blood vessels.
