This man ate 24 eggs everyday for 30 days - his blood reports came as a shock!

Nick Norwitz, a Harvard medical student, decided to challenge the long-held belief that eating eggs automatically spikes cholesterol and harms the heart. To put this idea to the test, he consumed a staggering 720 eggs in 30 days, and the results he found were nothing short of surprising.

The egg experiment

Over 30 days, Nick consumed a total of 720 eggs, which breaks down to a staggering 24 eggs per day. Nick’s experiment pushed the boundaries, testing not just the limits of human tolerance but also the long-standing beliefs about eggs and heart health. He wanted to test whether his body could handle it without harming his cholesterol or overall health.

Common beliefs about eggs and cholesterol

For decades, eggs have carried a reputation as a heart health hazard. The traditional view says that eggs are high in dietary cholesterol, and consuming too much cholesterol supposedly raises LDL (bad) cholesterol in the blood, which could clog arteries and increase the risk of heart disease.
While eggs do contain cholesterol, surprisingly enough, a Harvard study suggests that for most people, dietary cholesterol has less impact on blood cholesterol than previously thought.

The surprising results of the egg experiment

After 30 days of eating 24 eggs a day, Nick Norwitz underwent a full blood panel to check his cholesterol, heart markers, and overall health, and his blood reports were a complete surprise. Nick’s LDL (bad) cholesterol didn’t go up. In fact, it actually dropped by 18% in just 4 weeks.

What research says

A report published by Healthline highlighted that consuming two eggs per day (or about half a cup), compared to an egg-free, high-carb breakfast, did not affect blood cholesterol levels. The study also noted that individuals with health conditions, including diabetes, who ate six to twelve eggs per week, did not experience negative changes in total cholesterol or heart disease risk factors. In fact, their HDL (good) cholesterol levels increased, suggesting a potential heart health benefit.

The final word

Nick Norwitz’s experiment challenges long-held assumptions about eggs and heart health, showing that even extreme egg consumption may not harm cholesterol levels in healthy individuals.
