Fatty Liver disease: 5 supplements that can help reverse the condition in 3 months

The accumulation of fat inside liver cells is known as fatty liver disease. The liver develops fatty deposits through excessive alcohol consumption (alcoholic fatty liver) or obesity, diabetes and dietary issues (nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, or NAFLD). The condition of fatty liver disease progresses into serious complications when left untreated, because it causes liver inflammation and damage and cirrhosis. The combination of dietary changes and physical activity with certain supplements, shows promise for enhancing liver health through fat reduction, inflammation and oxidative stress management. Research-based evidence supports these five supplements as the most effective treatments for managing fatty liver disease, that when combined with the right diet, and prescribed medications, can reverse the condition in 3 months... 2/9

Milk thistle (Silymarin)

Silymarin represents the active compound in milk thistle, which people use as an herbal supplement. The substance protects liver cells from damage that results from toxic substances, and oxidative stress. Research indicates that milk thistle treatment decreases liver inflammation, enhances liver enzyme measurements, and promotes liver cell recovery. Research indicates that silymarin treatment in patients with fatty liver disease, leads to decreased fat accumulation and better liver test results. The substance protects liver cells from damage by blocking free radicals, and promoting protein production in liver cells. People should consult their doctor before taking milk thistle supplements, because the treatment requires medical supervision when used with other medications.

3/9

Omega-3 fatty acids

Fish oil supplements containing omega-3 fatty acids, provide heart and brain benefits, and simultaneously support liver health. Research indicates that omega-3 fatty acids decrease liver fat accumulation, decrease inflammation, and enhance insulin sensitivity in patients with fatty liver disease. The body processes and stores fat differently because of these fats, which leads to liver cell fat breakdown. The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) supports omega-3 supplements as a therapeutic choice for treating nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Omega-3 fatty acids enhance blood lipid profiles, which results in decreased liver injury potential.

4/9

Vitamin E

The antioxidant properties of Vitamin E protect cells from oxidative damage. The majority of research on Vitamin E has focused on nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) patients, who have fatty liver disease with inflammation. Multiple clinical studies demonstrated that vitamin E supplements decrease liver inflammation and enhance liver enzyme measurement results. The PIVENS trial established that vitamin E treatment enhances liver health in non-diabetic adults, who have NASH. The antioxidant properties of Vitamin E protect liver cells from damage by neutralising free radicals. However, medical supervision is required for high-dose Vitamin E intake, because excessive consumption can produce adverse effects. Long-term benefits, appropriate dosing, and patient-specific factors should be carefully considered before incorporating Vitamin E into a therapeutic liver health regimen.

5/9

Betaine

The natural substance betaine exists in two main food sources which are beets, and spinach. The liver receives support from betaine, because it enhances liver function in patients with fatty liver disease. The liver uses betaine to help with fat metabolism, and protects liver cells from harm. Research shows that betaine supplements decrease liver fat process homocysteine, which becomes harmful to the liver when its levels become excessive. The metabolic processes of liver cells become healthier through betaine consumption, which leads to decreased fat accumulation and inflammation.

6/9

N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC)

The body's primary antioxidant glutathione receives an increase through supplementation, with N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC). The antioxidant properties of glutathione protect liver cells through detoxification of dangerous substances, and reduction of oxidative stress. The development of fatty liver disease strongly depends on oxidative damage that occurs in the liver. Research indicates that NAC supplements help decrease liver inflammation and enhance liver enzyme measurements in specific medical studies. The supplement NAC supports liver detoxification and cell repair, through its ability to boost glutathione levels. Medical supervision is required for NAC consumption because the supplement is safe, but long-term use needs proper monitoring.
