When Shruti Kejriwal's mom was tested COVID positive, she was naturally worried about her mother and her family. 2020 has been a total mishap for all of us with the virus onset. Never did I know that my small trip to home could lead to permanent shifting itself. There were so many news which 2020 bought with itself which really broke me.

But the day when it hit really hard was when me and my dad were waiting at the hospital for my mom's ongoing treatment and nurse knocked in the room we were waiting and asked my dad to come outside. I had a bad feeling about it but still managed to be optimistic. In a few minutes, I got the news that my mother was "RNA Detected" . It felt so scary to read those letters. All I had was just 10 minutes to make the decision to shift my mom to home or admit her to hospital.

And within those 10 minutes, I had to break the news to my mom. Never had I ever felt so helpless. Somehow I gathered courage and told her to just focus her eyes on my face and hear the news.

We decided to keep her in the hospital as she was in a critical state. The toughest part was to pack her bags and shift her to isolation ward. I kept waving at her when 2 to 3 folks wearing PPE kit took her in a wheel chair. I kept standing there just hoping that she would be back. But we had to leave the hospital immediately as we weren't allowed to stay there.

I was so broke with the news that I couldn't even think if I was also infected. All I did after coming home was pray and pray and pray. I even chanted Nichiren Daishonin and just continued with the chants. The first three days were really tough for my family and we had to take a lot of decisions. After three days, I started having a strange sharp headcahe, something that I had never experienced before in my life. I took paracetamol and continued my multivitamins. Doctor asked me to isolate and have home food. But the headache continued and I thought of getting tested and to my surprise I tested positive too.

All my relatives had been telling me, that nothing happens to people who take care of their parents. Medical science did prove all of us wrong. The only thing which got me worried was how will I take care of my family as I was myself feeling very weak. I kept the medications on and followed strict isolation protocols.

Still continuing with it. It's been tough but at the same time, support and love from family and friends has been real strength and I'm sure together we gonna defeat this day too.

Just an advice people, please don't take corona so casually. It may not be hard for young people like us, but there are people with existing co-morbidities who are fighting hard to live each day. And this virus literally reaches through lungs and eventually to heart. We need to be aware more and more and take all the necessary precautions. Even just taking precautions isn't enough. But that's the least we can do. Please spread awareness too and stay safe.

Everything is temporary and so is this virus too. There will be a day soon when we will together bud this virus adios!

Till then, wear masks and stay safe!
Bless you all!
