As per a research study, nearly 4 crore Indians are suffering from long COVID at present. Globally, this number stands at 14 crore.

While most cases arose from milder infections, the study says, there was no sign of recovery in more than 15% of these cases even 12 months after infection.

The study has revealed that women are suffering more from long COVID effects than men.

The study suggests that a substantial number of people with long COVID are in need of rehabilitative care and support to transition back into the workplace or education when symptoms start to wane.
