​Four dals that are best for weight loss

This year has truly been about health, however, the way it has dawned upon us have been scary. And when we talk about health, one of the most important elements we should consider is our body weight. Simply because we all know that being overweight increases our chances of catching infections. Yet sadly around 5 per cent of the country's population is affected by obesity. Obesity not just makes one look fat but also increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, hypertension and other serious diseases.

From crash diet, healthy eating to intense gym activity, there are multiple ways that people follow to lose weight. For some it is an easy ride while for others, it might seem just more than difficult.

A healthy diet along with regular physical activity is the best way to lose weight sustainably. And ultimately it is the diet, which has a bigger impact on your weight than even exercise.

According to experts, the humble dals present in our kitchen can be beneficial in losing weight. Here is a list of five such dals that you must include alternatively in your daily diet, to lose weight successfully and easily.

​Moong dal

Moong dal also called split beans is full of protein and the favourite of many. The dal is consumed in various forms from sprouts, khichdi to plain dal. This green dal has a lot of protein and fibre, which makes it perfect for weight watchers. Protein and fibre present in this variety helps keep one fuller for longer and stops them from binging.

​Masoor dal

Masoor ki dal, which is pink in colour is also an absolute favourite of many. This dal has more fibre and less fat and carbohydrate, which makes it a healthy option. It also has other important vitamins and minerals needed for optimal body functions. 100 grams of masoor dal has around 352 calories. The nutrient-rich profile of the dal, qualifies it to be a healthy option for people trying to shed those extra kilos.

​Arhar dal

A daily staple in many parts of Uttar Pradesh, arhar dal is full of nutrients. The dal is full of protein and feels light on the stomach. Without giving it a second thought, weight watchers can consume this tasty and healthy dal every day.

Having a balanced diet and nutrient-rich foods like dal every day are your best bet to lose weight. Dals help to keep you fuller for longer and thus stop you from overeating later.
