When it comes to the balanced diet of an expecting woman, a lot needs to be taken care of. The whole idea is to understand that what the woman eats is directly proportional to the child's health, hence extra care of what to eat and what to avoid becomes necessary. There are many concepts like hot food, cold food, and sour food, which are strictly avoided during pregnancy, as it is believed that they may impact the health of the child. According to Ayurveda, expecting women should avoid eggplant. It has been found that they contain large amounts of phytohormones and help in treating premenstrual syndrome and amenorrhea. Thus, eggplants work as diuretics. It has been observed that when expecting women consume eggplants daily, it can stimulate menstruation, which is not a good sign for a pregnant lady. According to experts, the soil in which eggplants are grown are often rich in toxoplasmosis, a compound which gets absorbed in eggplants and when consumed by expecting women, gets absorbed by the baby and it increases the risk of premature delivery. (Image: istock)
