What is Ponk

Come winter, we have a plethora of seasonal treats to enjoy, and one of them is called Ponk or Paunk. It is an Indian snack made with tender roasted sorghum grains. For the uninitiated, it is a specialty of Surat, Gujarat, and is extremely popular during the winter season in the state of Maharashtra and a few other states too. (Image: istock)

​Ponk Bhel Preparation

It is often relished as a bhel, and to make it, you have to simply mix ponk, salt, pepper, black pepper, lemon juice, onion, tomatoes, green chilli, chaat masala, and sweet and salty chutney in a mixing bowl. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve it fresh. As per experts, this snack is available between the months of November and February.
