What is Gajak?

When we talk about winter foods, saag, jaggery, make ki roti, and gajak are a few treats that we all love and enjoy. For the unversed, gajak is a sweet winter delicacy which s also known as chikki, or patti. It is the most famous wintersweet originating from north-central India. It is a dry sweet made of sesame seeds or peanuts and jaggery. Traditionally, sesame seeds are roasted and then mixed with melted jaggery or sugar syrup. As per experts, the combination of sesame seeds, peanut, and jaggery keeps the body warm and that’s the reason it is best consumed during the winter season. ​Gud-til Gajak

These are the most famous type of Gajak found in winters. The main ingredients used to make this Gajak are sesame seeds and groundnuts which give this sweet treat a great crunch. The taste of Malwa will make you drool over the Gud-Gajak made with jaggery and ghee. (Image: istock)

Til-revadi Gajak
